English Speech and Drama
Julia Gabriel Centre’s preschool speech and drama programme aims to nurture and equip students, from a young age, with core life skills necessary to succeed in today’s world.
We work closely with the students to help them develop their confidence, spoken communication and thinking skills progressively, through the following elements:
- Sharing Time
- Physical Warm-Up Activities
- Voice and Speech Exercises
Nursery classes involve language in action through stories and characters that engage children Role and pretend-play fosters imagination, problem-solving, verbal physical and social skills. Conversation, acting rhymes, story books, poems, puppets and songs are all designed focus attention on how language works, using educative as well as natural forms of drama learning.
Kindergarten-level classes are based on story books and poems, while guiding them towards broader needs for school and life. Our teachers nurture connection, collaboration and acceptance of children’s ideas and emotions, as students create and extend drama activities to try out their abilities in different roles.
There are four terms in each year. Each term there is a different skill focus – Developing Drama, Expressive Speaking, Practical Speaking and Performance.
